Mr. and Mrs. J. -Corbett left last evening'on return to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Doyle left by last evening’s rail-cai' on return to Hawera Dr. Barclay, Surgeon-Superintend-ent of the Greymouth Hospital, left for Christchurch yesterday. Mr J. (“Bluey”) Sweetman is at present a patient in the Grey River Hospital, and is progressing satisfactorily. Mr William Lake, of Wellington, has arrived in Greymouth to attend the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Marist Rugby League Club. Miss L. A. Duffy, District Nurse, at Greymouth, who has been in Wellington for some weeks, for study, will resume duty on Thursday. Miss E. V. Metcalfe, who has been relieving Miss Duffy, will return to Wei- „ lington this week to engage m a post-graduate nursing course. Mr J. Hannah has been appointed staff superintendent of New Zealand Railways, in succession to Mr F. W. Aickin, who was recently appointed general manager. Mr Hannah until recently has been relieving and inspecting district traffic manager ' at Wellington. Recently in Suva, the Rev. Brother Herbert, of the Marist Brothers, celebrated the Golden Jubilee of his profession. Brother Herbert, who has directed St Felix College, Suva, and served in Samoa, was for six years Director of the Marist Brothers’ School, Greymouth, before being transferred to Invercargill. He was born in Levuka, Fiji, in 1877 and many friends assembled for High Mass at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Suva, to mark the occasion.

< An Australian veterinary surgeon, Dr. F. R. Coughlin, of Tamworth, New South Wales, will leave Australia soon to become veterinary surgeon to the Royal stables of Haile Selassie at Addis Ababa. It is expected that his salary will be £5OOO. Australian currency yearly. He will also act as Australian trade representative. He was appointed on representations of Captain K. Boghossian, master of the horse in, the Imperial Ethiopian Government, who recently visited Australia in search of horses for the Emperors’ . bodyguard. •
