BOXING CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIPS
P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, August 30. The Canterbury boxing championships were decided this evening. The finals resulted as follows:— Flyweight: J. J. Winder (7.13) beat C. McDonald (7.12.) Lightweight; J. Hawes (9.3 beat K. Murfitt (9.8). Welterweight: W. Ellery (10.4) beat J. Grant (10.1.) Middleweight: A. H. Whittle beat C. Bowman by default. •Light-heavy weight: Russell (11.10) beat T. Tonks (12.0.) Heavyweight: P. E. Dunn beat A. D. McKenzie by default. At a previous tournament, J. O’Connor (8.0) beat C. Herriot (8.8) in the bantamweight, and C. Hay (8.12) beat W. Underhay (9.0) in the featherweight.
