U.S. Infation Threatens Bad Times, Says N.Z. Union Delegate
AUCKLAND, August 10. The United States is not facing up to inflation the way it should and this is likely to cause considerable trouble in the near future, according to Mr H. G. Kilpatrick, secretary of the Canterbury Freezing Workers and Related Trades Union, who arrived by air to-day aftef citending the 1.L.0. conference in San Francisco. He said that until Americans learnt to spread prosperity, inflation was going to end in World War 111 or a depression. The labour unions were demanding increased pay to meet the high cost of living. Mr Kilpatrick visited several meatpacking plants in New York and Chicago and he is convinced that they are superior to any in New Zealand. He bad formed a great liking for the average American.
