BOXER’S HARD LUCK AT OLYMPIC GAMES

[N.Z.P.A. —Reuter Cable], (Received August 10, 11.46 p.m.') LONDON, August 10. Drama, comedy and pathos were enacted during the weighing in for Olympic boxing at Wemibley on Tuesday. Pascual Perez, of Argentina, failed to make eight stone. Everything possible had been done to make him lose the few ounces that he carried over the limit. For twenty minutes, voluble Argentinians cut chunks of his hair, rubbed him down with towels, dusted the soles of ’’ his feet, and even brushed the scales with a large paint brush, but Perez could not make it. Perez cried bitterly, tearing at what remained of his hair, and protesting to the officials. He was still sobbing loudly when he was ordered ■to leave the scales.
