Disabled Steamer Towed to Port

FREMANTLE, Aug. 9. The passengers and crew of the disabled steamer Papachristidis Vassilios stepped ashore at Fremantle little the worse for their eventful 52day voyage the last six days of wffiich were spent in tow of the vessel Kybra. Most of the 44 officers and crew had worked day and night since the engines broke down 660 miles northwest of Fremantle. Using considerable improvisation they managed to .raise sufficient steam to relieve the Kybra slightly in the long tow. The first thought was of food .to replace the “hard tack” on which they had been living for over a fortnight.
