CONVICTION OF CHEMIST AND WOMAN CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 9. On two charges of unlawfully using an instrument, Joseph Charles Tate, aged 32, a manufacturing chemist, was admitted to probation for three years by Mr Justice Fleming in the Supreme Court to-day. “For his wife and children’s sake, I do a thing for which I will probably be blamed,” said His Honour, who added that the prisoner’s remorse and the fact that he had obviously done with such things for life were taken into account. Amy Ethel Kingsbury, aged 47, on one charge of unlawfully using an instrument and four of aiding Tate, was admitted to probation for two years. ’
