PERILOUS VOYAGE IN SHIP’S LIFEBOAT
LONDON, August 9 A 68-year-old American, Felix Brandsten, and a 44-year-old Finn, Ivar Heino, arrived at Falmouth from Miami in a converted ship’s lifeboat, after a stormy 71-day voyage across the Atlantic. They used a small sextant foT navigation purposes. A pressure stove for cooking failed when the life boat was well out to sea, ano the men had to live on cold water, and tinned food for the remainder of the voyage. They intended, after piovisioning, to ‘ resume the journey to Sweden from where Brandsten emigrated to America.
