Watersiders’ Request for Release and Remission of Fines

(Rec. 11.0). SYDNEY, Aug. 5. The Federal Council of the Waterside Workers’ Union decided to-day that before withdrawing labour from the Queensland ports, it would ask the Queensland Government- to release the two Union officials and barrister from gaol and to remit their fines.

The Council directed all of the watersiders at present on strike as a protest against the imprisonment of the three men to report for work as usual. It is unlikely that there will be any hold-up on the Queensland waterfront for the present.
