RAIL-CAR BOOKINGS

(To the Editor) Sir.—We wish to complain of the methods adopted by the Railways Department at Greymouth in the allocation of rail-car seats. To-night, when we arrived at the station, we met several people—perhaps a dozen in all, were in the same position—who had booked long after us, yet they were given seats in preference to us.

It seems to us that the policy of first-come, first-served ought to be followed by the Railways Department, and that the preference which was obviously given to some people “in the know” last night, ought not to be allowed to continue. We are etc. B. CRESTANI, R. DALZELL. Runanga, June 4.
