TABLE TENNIS GREYMOUTH DEFEAT HOKITIKA IN CLOSELY CONTESTED GAME
With three of Hokitika’s more experienced players unavailable, Greymouth had a decisive win over Hokitika by 31 games -,to 9 on Wednesday night. 1 Although there is a substantial margin in the final score, several of the games were closely contested and it was only the experience of the Greymouth players that gave them the wins. Results of individual sections are as follows: —Men’s singles: .Greymouth 6, Hokitika 4; ladies’ singles: Greymouth 9, Hokitika 4; mens doubles: Greymouth 4, Hokitika 1; ladies’ doubles: Greymouth 4, Hokitika 1; combined doubles: Greymouth 8, Hokitika 2. Although the number of players m Greymouth is on the increase and obtaining playing rooms is becoming a severe problem. Grey Tennis and Woolworth’s are at present without a room having had to vacate their temporary premises in Hallenstein’s buildings. It is hoped that these two clubs are successful, in obtaining rooms they have in view. If not it will be a real set-back to table tennis in Greymouth.
