MALE NURSES’ ASSOCIATION FORMED
p.a. Wellington; June 3. On May 24, 1948, a Society of Registered Nurses of New Zealand was incorporated at Wellington. The full membership is limited to registered male nurses and registered male psychiatric nurses, but bona fide male student nurses may becomU associate members. The association is representative of all male nurses registered under the Nurses’ and Widwives’ Act, 1945, and none of its men is entitled to, or expected to join the Hotel, Restaurant and Hospital Domestics’ Union. The Hospital Board Employees’ Regulations, 1947, provides for an association of a class of employees of a hospital board to be recognised by the Minister of Health. For the purposes of these regulations the Minister may, unon application of such an association, refer matters concerning wages and other conditions of employment to an advisory committee constituted under the regulations. The newly-formed 'society is in negotiation with the Minister of Health, Hon. Mabel Howard, on behalf of all registered male nurses in New Zealand.
