U.S. Navy in Europe Is Ready for Action

(Rec 10.0) WASHINGTON, June 2. The United States Navy is in the Mediterannean for a dual purpose. One of that of putting on “a show of force,” that would deter other nations from aggressive action, and the other is to evacuate American cccupaticn forces, if necessary. Admiral Louis Deneld, Chief of Naval Operations, gave that important information to a closed session of the House of Representatives NavcjJ Appropriations Sub-committee in April last, but it was not released until to-day. Admiral Denfield said that m the entire U.S.A. Mediterranean force consisted of one carrier, three cruisers, two destroyers, and it was fully manned and was ready for action.
