Most U.N.R.R.A. Relief Went to Soviet and its Neighbours
(Rec. 11.10). WASHINGTON, June 2. President Truman’s quarterly report to-day in Congrqss shows that fiftyfour per cent, of the total of Europe’s share of the U.N.R.R.A. relief supplies went to Russia and her neighbouring countries. Europe up to June 30, 1947, obtained goods worth the following amounts: Poland, 465 million dollars: Yugoslavia, 397 millions dollars: Czechoslovakia, 255 million dollars; Russia (Ukraine Byelo-Russia) sixty million dollars; Hungary four million dollars; Finland, two million dollars. The major Western Euronean recipients were: Italy, 412 million dollars; Greece 341 million dollars; Austria 133 million dollars.
