N.Z. DAIRY BOARD NEW SET-UP HAS STATE APPROVAL
P.A. WELLINGTON, June 3. It is understood that the Government has approved of a reorganisation of the New Zealand Dairy Board, me industry had asked for a board of seven producer members. Previously the representation on the board has been from the following wards: North Auckland-South Auckland-East Coast (other than the N.Z. Co-op. Dairy Co.), one delegate; the N.Z. Dairy Co-op. Co., one; Taranaki-Manawatu-Wairarapa and Wanganui, one; South Island, one; Government, one. Subject to the inclusion of a Government nominee, the Government is understood to have approved the following new set-up, based on the relative outputs of the districts and on the bodies,, concerned. It is intended to give more comprehensive representation on the board. The board approved by the Government will consist of eight members, of whom seven will represent the producers. The new districts, as laid down by the Dominion dairy conference last year, will be represented as follows: North Auckland, one; the N.Z. Dairy Coy., two; South Auckland-East Coast (including Gisborne), one; Taranaki, one; Palmerston North - Wanganui - WellingtonHawke’s Bay - Marlborough - Nelson, one; Westland - Canterbury - QtagoSouthland, one. The Government’s counter-proposal , will now come before the next <meet- ■" ing of the Dairy Board. It will- later be considered by the Dairy Industry Council.
