AUCKLAND, June 2. A young woman Pied in the Auckland Hospital two hours after the car in which she was being driven home from a dance ploughed through three shop verandah posts and stopped against a telegraph post on Mount Eden road, shortly after midnight The victim was: — Shirley Agnes Jacqueline Moore, aged 20, a daughter of Mr William james Moore, of Mount Roskill, widower, for whom she kept house. The two male occupants of the car were the driver, Earle Johnson, aged 15. of Otahuhu, who suffered slight head injuries and a cut on a knee, and Graham Whittle, aged 16, of Otahuhu. facial cuts and shock. Miss Moore occupied the front seat with the driver. At the inquest .it w r as stated that the car lights failed just before tne crash occurred. The accident occurred near the intersection of Mount Eden road and Esplanade road during heavy rain. Nearby residents were awakened by the sound of crashing corrugated iron and timber from 60 feet of verandah in front of a dairy and grocery store as the verandah posts collapsed on the wreckage of the small car. The injured occupants were helped from the wreckage by a passing taxi-driver, who drove them immediately to the hospital.
