Suspected Petrol Coupons Prove to be Genuine
Specimens of the four gallon petrol coupons recently sent from Greymouth to Wellington as suspected forgeries have been proven to be genuine coupons. After an examination by experts, it was revealed that suspicious smudges on the coupons were blurs caused in the printing process. The coupons were sent to Wellington early last month by the Chief Postmaster, Mr H. C. Rowe, after complaints from petrol retailers in the town. There were variations in the shade of pink used and the printing was smudged. During the war, when large scale forgeries were detected, there were few of the forgeries detected on the West Coast.
