“The suggestion that a racing advisory board be set up is one which is causing consideraole controversy and some misgiving”, said Mr A. S. Elworthy, retiring chairman of the Canterbury Jockey Club, in his address at the annual meeting of members yesterday. “It is generally. admitted that the standard of administration and control of racing m New Zealand to-day is as good as, if not better than, that in any ether country. Many people are of opinion that any form of outside control would be not only superfluous, but quite unnecessary”.
