M.U.I.O.O.F. DISTRICT CONFERENCE

The annual conference of the United Westland District M.U.1.0.0.F. was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Blackball, last Saturday. The following district officers were present: District Grand Master Bro. P. S. Gillovic; District Deputy Grand Master Bro. J. B. Baty; immediate Past District Grand Master Bro. H. C. Martin; Treasurer Bro. R. Hagedorn; Trustee Bro. .R. Lowe. The following Lodge delegates were, present: Albert Lodge, Bro. F. Congreve, P.D.G.M., Bro. A. S. McLean, P.G.; Greymouth Lodge, Bro. A. Fraser, P.G., Bro. W. Parkinson, P.G. and F.S.;- Blackball Lodge, Bro. H. Jennison, P.G., Bro. G. Jones, P.G. and F.S.; Reefton Lodge, Bro. J. B. Auld, P.D.G.M. and F.S., Bro. T. A. Dellaca, P.D.G.M.; Westport Lodge, Bro. N. Gillovitch, P.G., Bro. R. Lowe, P.D.G.M. In the absence of the District Secretary, Bro. W. Parkinson was appointed Minute Secretary for the conference.

Bros. J. B. Baty and A. Fraser were elected to the office of D.G.M. and D.D.G.M. respectively for the next twelve months. The Management Committee for the ensuing term was elected as follows: Bros. T. A. Dellaca, G. Jones, A. S. McLean, W. Parkinson and S. A. Simpson along with the District Officers.

Bro. F. Congreve was elected Act-ing-District Secretary for twelve months, replacing Bro. G. M. Powell, who has resigned for health reasons. Tributes were paid to Bro. Auld (retiring Secretary of Reefton Lodge! after lengthy service, and to Bro. G M. Powell,' who has been District Secretary for 28 years, and whose services are to be recognised in some tangible form by the district. A Purple Degree Lecture was held in the evening.- three candidates. Bros. A. McLean, W. Parkinson and W. McKenzie being admitted. At a social held afterwards, the newly-elected officers were installed by Bro. H. C. Martin.
