DOMINION NEWS

DUNEDIN, May 31.

After a 20-day voyage from Yokohama, the Japanese Liberty ship Marit arrived at Dunedin this morning with empty holds. The ship will load wool for Russia. When 3200 bales of wool have been loaded at Dunedin the Marit will go to Lyttelton and then to Napier to load a further 14,000 bales. The ship will discharge at Odessa, in the Black Sea. Registered at Arendal, in southern Norway, the Marit was built in 1943 by the Oregon Shipbuilding Corporation at Portland. The Marit is the Norwegian counterpart for the English name Mary. Before she came to Dunedin the Marit took a full cargo of Canadian coal to Japan. The ship is commanded by Captain O. Hagen, a Norwegian.
