Delegates from Inangahua, Nikau, Karamea, Mokihinui and Westport branched were present. Apologies were received from Mesdames Coop, Beckley (Ikamatua). A. Ridsdale and L. Clark. Mrs W. H. Martin (president) gave the following report: The year under review has been successful in all respects. Although some branches are experiencing difficulties in maintaining their strength others are in- ! creasing in numbers and popularity. I Our greatest achievement was in getting recognition of the bravery ! shown by Mrs T. V. Southern. I am pleased to announce that the medal - and certificate are in the mail to-day i and will be available to members for inspection. Arrangements have been finalised for the presentation of these to Mrs Southern. We were disappointed to know that Mrs Coop was unable to be present but look forward to the pleasure of her company at a meeting in the near future. Acting on a request from Dominion headquarters I proceeded to Timaru for a meeting of the South Island Provincial Presidents in con- • nection with the campaign of saving : fat for Britain. During the meeting we had the pleasure of hearing Lady Beveridge who addressed us on Britain’s urgent need for fats and soaps. I strongly urge all delegates- to recommend to their branches to save all edible fat possible. We are to be supplied with tins for saving fat and , as far as this district is concerned i we are fortunate to have the help of Westport Rotary Club who are taking an active part in this matter. Tn conclusion I wish to thank Mrs D. Bateman, who so ably carried' out the duties of secretary. _ 1 thank all members of the provincial executive for their support and assistance during the year; also Mrs J.
