AMERICAN RELEASES FROZEN SPANISH FUNDS
WASHINGTON, May 28. Normal financial relations between Spain and the United States were restored to-day for the first time in seven years. The Secretary of the Treasury (Mr John Snyder) removed all controls from nearly 60,000,000 dollars in Spanish assets in the UnAffi States, and removed all restrictions on financial transactions between the two nations. The State Department emphasised that this order applies to financial deals only, and does not represent, any change in the United States foreign policy as far as the Franco regime is concerned. Spain’s assets have been frozen since the beginning of the Second World War. _____
