Paralysis Case Proves Fatal
WHANGAREI, April 19.
The first fatal case of infantile paralysis in Northland occurred in the Kaitaia Hospital yesterday afterneon, the victim being a six-year-old boy, whose parents reside three miles from . Kaitaia. Diagnosed as a severe case, he was admitted to the hospital on Saturday. A 13-year-old girl from Peria, 16 miles from Kaitaia, who was admitted to the hospital as a suspect on Thursday, has been proved a positive.
Another case is an 18-year-old youth from the same district. The two cases come from separate families, between whom, however,' contact had been established. NEW TARANAKI CASE P.A. NEW PLYMOUTH, April 19 Two further cases of poLiom/-litis, reported in the Taranaki health district, bring the total to 41 since November 1. One case is a four-year-old boy at Warea, and the other is a six-year-old girl at Normanby. There are seventeen patients in the hospital at present.
