British Loan of Wheat to France
LONDON, April 14
Within the next 10 weeks Britain is to make a loan of 34,000 tons of wheat to France. It will be repaid out of this season’s French harvest. The Minister of Food (Mr John Strachey) said that the amount involved was comparitively modes” and was designed to assist France in a temporary difficulty. Although it would mean a regrettable reduction of Brit' ish stocks, the rations would rot be endangered. “It is part of the price we must pay to help European recovery,” said Mr Strachey.
