U.N.O. CALLS FOR PEACE IN PALESTINE
(Received April 15, 9.30 p.m.). NEW YORK, April 14.
United Nations Security Council delegates to-day issued a plan for a truce in Palestine. This plan calls on all persons in organisations, especially the Arab Higher Committee, and the Jewish Agency in Palestine to cease all military activities, and “acts of violence, terrorism, and sabotage”. The plan asks the parties to cease “bringing into, assisting, or encouraging the entry into Palestine of armed bands, and individuals”. It also asks them to refrain from importing war materials. The plan also calls for a cessation of political activities in Palestine, and for co-oneration with mandatory authority. Britain is requested to use her best efforts to bring all of those concerned in Palestine to accept these measures.
Countries neighbouring on Palestine are asked to assist in an implementation of these measures, particularly those referring to the entry of armed individuals and of war materials.
