More Power Used
During March, Westport users increased their electric power consumption over the figure for March, 1947, by 49,410 units. The electrical engineer, Mr T. Dobson, in his report to the Borough Council stated that units generated at Fairdown were 99,000, an increase of 79,140 and received from Denniston 103,724, a decrease of 29,730 units. Total consumption was 202,724 units. Alterations to the main distribution service had been carried out in readiness for the increased winter loading which will have to be met. This entailed the bringing in of more consumers to the llkv 400 volt new substation at upper Derby Street, thus relieving the other sub-stations in that area. A check on loading was being carried out from station to station and on the whole system. It was hoped that a full report on the Borough Council electrical supply 1947-48 will be ready for the next meeting stated Mr Dobson. BOROUGH LIBRARY
