110 Houses for Westport

Illustrative of tbe increased amount of house building being done in Westport, the building inspector. Mr A. E. G. Knight, reported to the Westport Borough Council that 26 private dwellings, costing £32,941, were erect- 1 ed for the year to March 31, while 32 State houses were completed and occupied, and another 52 were under construction, their total value being £124,000. During the year, 178 alteration and addition permits, of a value of £14.607, were issued, making the total £171,549. “This report shows that the borough is expanding greatly, and my Department lias hud a very busy year. Nevertheless, everything* has run smoothly, due to the fact that I have received the full support from the various staffs and Council, and I wish to thank you for your attention, advice and co-operation given freely”, stated Mr Knight.
