Ages of Women in Public Service

P.A. WELLINGTON, April 13. Women in the Public Service are going to have one of theii* most guarded secrets revealed. For the first time for about 30 years, the 1948-49 classification list published by the Public Service Commission will contain the dates of the birth of the women in the service.

A commission spokesman stated today that men in the Public Service had to work' 40 years before they could retire. Women were able to retire after 30 years. The new classification list would solve the difficulty of knowing how much longer a woman had to serve when considering feminine annlications for bromotion and would help in the selection of candidates for more responsible posts.
