COSTA RICA CIVIL WAR EXPECTED TO END NOW

(Rec 9.30) SAN JOSE April 14. Both sides in the civil war in Costa Rica have now issued a cease-lire order to take effect at 5 a.m. to-day. and a settlement of this month-old struggle is reported to be imminent. The United States Ambassador, Mr Nathaniel Davis, with other diplomats and church prelates, has played an active part in ending the fighting. The Right Wing forces had been about to seize the capital, whose cititzens were reported to have been preparing a house-to-house defence. Earlier the Costa Rican Government asked diplomatic representatives of other Governments to take San Jose under their protection—a course which is followed only when a Government is no longer in control of a revolt. ,
