The average high water depth of the Grey bar during March was 21ft 4iin. The high water depth averaged 22ft 2in at the wharf.
During March, 13 vessels —a total tonnage of 12,526 —arrived at the Port of Greymouth, and 12 vessels sailed during the month of a total tonnage of 11,021.
The New Zealand Olympic Games Committee announced that the New Zealand team will not leave Auckland by the Port Hobart until May 8. Reservations for the team’s return have been fixed for the Rangitiki, scheduled to sail from London on August 26.

There were 504 babies born at the Mcßrearty annexe of the Grey Hospital during the 12 months ended March 31. The total number, of beds available during the period was 26, and the average number occupied daily was 21.09. Ante-natal visits to the hospital for the year numbered 1228.

Wasps are prevalent in the Waikato this season, and so far officers of the Department of Agriculture have destroyed more than 100 nests. A young man at Tuhikaramea was stung by wasps. He was clearing a fence in a paddock and inadvertently disturbed a nest at the bottom of a post. He was immediately surrounded and was severely stung about the body. Relief was gained when the stings were treated with vinegar.

Two employees of the Dobson State coal mine who were injured on Monday were Donald Dickson and Kenneth Tomlinson, both of whom were caught by a fall of coal. They were attended for minor injuries at the mine by Dr Stewart, of Brunnerton. Thomas Murphy received injuries which were attended to at the mine when he was hit by a piece of coal which fell from a wagon.
