RUNANGA NOTES
(Our own Correspondent) The usual monthly meeting of tne Runanga branch of the New Zealand Labour Party was held on Monday last. Mr S. W. Morris being in the chair and there was a fair attendance of members. After the routine business had been disposed of a social hour was held it being the occasion of the departure of two lady members of the branch —and one, Mrs Dinsdale on an extended trip to the Old Country and the other, Mrs Jas Smith (Dunollie) to visit relations in Australia and presentations were made to them. The president, Mr Morris spoke in happy strain on the pioneering spirit of Mrs Dinsdale who war; one of the oldest members of the branch, and had lived for a time with her husband in a tent. Mrs Dinsdale was one of those unassuming members who preferred to work for the party rather than-to be in the limelight. Mesdames Timlin and Wright and Messrs A. J. Boddy, W. O’Neill and Brown also made eulogistic reference to Mrs Dinsdale, to whom the presentation was made by Mrs Wright. Mrs Dinsdale feelingly replied, stating that she would let Labour people in England know what had been done by the Labour Government in New Zealand. Mrs Smith, said the President, was also a member who» had done sterling work for the Party, and they trusted her trip would be an enjoyable one. Mr O’Neill then tendered Mrs Smith a presentation, after which all presented joined in the singing of “They Are JolLv Good Fellows.”
