MANGAKINO DISPUTE TRIBUNAL SITTINGS
WELLINGTON, April 9. The tribunal to inquire into the issues involved in tlie Mangal’.ino’ hydro-electric works dispute will sit at Hamilton as a centre situated conveniently near the scene of tlie dispute. Announcing this, the Minister oi Labour, Air McLagan, said to meet the wishes of both parties the tribunal would meet later than Tuesday. It is likely that the union representative on the tribunal will be known I his evening. In tlie expectation that the tribunal would begin on Tuesday, Mr K. McL. Baxter, secretary of the New Zealand Federation of Labour was i;> have been the union nominee. It is learned from the union that because of the slight delay in opening the hearing it is not yet certain that Mr Baxter can conveniently be the representative, and, if this is proved to be the case, the union has another nominee, probably from Auckland, in mind. Mr McLagan said the latter hearing would not affect the resumption of normal work at Mangakino as soon as the Public Works Department threw the job open.
