CREWS OBJECT TO UNLIGHTED SHIPS AT WANGANUI

P.A. WANGANUI, April 9 A dispute arose on four coastal vessels in Wanganui to-day in regard to lighting, as a result of the matter, the ships did not sail yesterday. The ships affected were the Gale, the Holmglen, the Clansman and. the Melva. When at sea the ships are lit by power from their own generators, but when in port they are connected to the city supply, which is switched off. at. various periods, to conform with the schedule of restrictions. The men asked that when the city supply is switched off the ships’ generators be used. Although the dispute. which is believed to affect other ports, was not settled last night, the vessels were scheduled to leave Wanganui on the late tide to-night.
