U.S. FRONTIER IS NOW IN EUROPE !

Belgian Premier On Possibility of War (Rec. 10.10) NEW YORK, April 8 The Belgian Prime Minister, M. Spaak, declared to-day: “The Unitea States frontier is now in Europe.” M. Spaak, reviewing talks he had with President Truman and other American leaders said: “The Brussels Pact, forming the West European Military Alliance, last month, would not be fully effective without military support by the United States.” He was questioned on President Truman’s declaration to Congress on March 17 supporting West European alliance. M. Spaak replied: “I have interpreted the President’s speech as a guarantee to the nations who are ready to defend themselves and their free institutions. If my interpretation is correct, we wish, and hope, that the American support will be as complete as possible. Jf war should break out again, that war would be directed, through Europe, to the United States itself.” M. Spaak said that the Brussels’ Pact signatories had not asked the United States for arms. He acknowledged, that he had discussed in Washington the kind of aid which the United States would give in support of those nations uniting in a west European Alliance.
