Jews Charged With Murder Of British Soldiers
LONDON, April 8. The Secretary for the Colonies, Mr A. Creech-Jones, in a statement on the Jewish shooting of British soldiers in their camp in Palestine said: “It is cold-blooded murder. Sucn senseless crimes by members ot a community which aspires to world recognition as ready for acceptance into the comity of nations, continue to blot, the record of the Palestine Jews. The soldiers were engaged in. a task arising from Ihe honest discharge of our international responsibilities. “Our soldiers are being withdrawn from these perils—this last barbarity makes the task even more urgent.” WATER SUPPLY OUT Jerusalem’s water supply which is piped from Ras Elein, 15 miles north-east of Tel Aviv., has been interrupted. It is unofficially stated that Arabs sut the pipeline. The city’s second watercourse—a spring—is restricted by lack of fuel oil for the pumps. Arab sources said Abdul Kadar Husseini, the Arab guerrilla l.eaaer, a kinsman of the Grand Mufti, was killed in action between Jews and Arabs at Mount Castel, five miles west pf Jerusalem. The Arabs recaptured Castel village from the Haganah who seized it on April 3. The British United Press correspondent, who witnessed the fall ot Catel, says 2000 Arabs charged uphill and captured the village which is a key-point of the Jewish convoy route to Jerusalem. One hundred Haganap men retreated to the nearoy Jewish settlement of Moza. The Jews besieged at Mishmarhaemek refused the Arab surrender terms and the Arab field artilleiy feopened the bombardment.
