DUNEDIN, April 8 Every effort is to be made by the Builders’ and Contractors’ Association to implement the registration of builders. , XT _ This was decided at the New Zealand conference of the association this morning as a result of a remit from the Auckland Association. It was decided to set up a sub-commit-tee to confer with officers of the Works Department on the wording and operation of a Builders’ Registration Act. „ „ A decision to confer with the Government departments ocncerned to see whether bny steps could be taken to help the association to safeguard its standards of membership was made. It was pointed out that the medical and legal profession had the power to strike off the rolls members deemed guilty of illegal or unethical behaviour. . , Mr L. Rigg (Wairarapa) suggested that no person be admitted to membership, unless he had been engaged as a master builder for a minimum continuous period of 12 months.
