Fines at Westport Magistrate’s Court

At the Magistrate’s Court, Westport, Mi’ T. E. Maunsel. S.M., fined four “after hours” offenders £1 each, and also ordered them to pay 10s costs. The. usual fine, in the past, except when war-time regulations were enforced, has been 10s. The defendants were found in the Club Hotel on the night of March 27. The licensee. Douglas W. Wright, was fined £1 for selling liquor after hours. Patrick Burke, barman, being a person other than the licensee, was fined £3 for serving liquor. Colin Inwood was charged that his agent, Mollie McMeechan, had sold milk to Edward George Knight (health inspector) which did not contain the required amount of milk fat. He was fined £2, and was ordered to pav costs. For not registering a dog, Les James Ferguson was fined £1 Us. For not giving way to the right in a vehicle which he was driving on December 26 at Westport, Joseph Donald Griffiths was fined £2.
