RAILWAY GUARD RUN OVER AND KILLED

WHANGAREI, April 7. A guard was run over by a railway waggon at Taipuha yesterday afternoon. He died five minutes after being admitted to the Whangarei Hospital. He was George Strawbridge, aged 49, of Corn street, Whangarei, a married man with five children. Mi- Strawbridge was guard on a mixed train that was shunting at Taipuha, about 30 miles south of Whangarei. The porter was at the points and when the guard did not come along with the trucks he looked up and saw Mr Strawbridge lying across the fine.
