WEDDING
B ARTONr-ROH LOFF The wedding took place on Wednesday last at St. Patrick’s Church, Grevmouth. of Edna Annie, youngest daughter of Mrs and the late Mr A. J. Rohloff, Greymouth, and John Alan, second son of Mr and Mrs J. T. Barton, of Glenbrook, Waiuku. The Rev. Father J. Leonard officiated at the ceremony, and also at Nuptial Mass. , , , The bride, who was escorted by her uncle, Mr James Keating, of Wellington, wore an old-world . gown .of ivory-embossed silk featuring a slimfitting bodice and a square neck-line of uncut lace and two full panels of inserted lace to the waist.. The fullygathered skirt formed a circular train with iace at the hemline, and also on the three-quarter sleeves. Her veil of uncut tulle was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a shower bouquet of white and pink belladonna lilies, begonias and maiden-hair fern. The bride was attended by her sister, Eileen, and Miss Ethel Barry as bridesmaids. Their frocks of oldgold silk taffeta were cut with a full one-panel front and new padded hiplino, whilst the fitting bodices and three-quarter sleeves were prettilv scalloped and piped in self-coloured taffeta. Their head-dress was a pleated fan shape of soft mauve tulle which fell to a drape at one side, and they carried shower bouquets of gold and mauve dahlias and begonias to tone. The wee flower girl, Adelma Beban, niece of the bride, wore a frock of old gold silk taffeta made on similar lines to the bridesmaid’s frocks, with a circlet of flowers around her head. She carried a posy of mauve sweetpeas and maiden-hair fern. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Victor, as best man, and Mr William Clancy, of Cobden, . as groomsman. Mrs J. Chunn presided at the organ, and during the service “Ave Maria” and “Hold Thou My Hand" were sung by Mrs Doreen Wylde. The reception was held at Harker's Lounge, where the guests were received by the bride’s mother, who was attired in a model frock of tobacco brown beneath a musquash fur coat with accessories to tone. Autumn-torcd begonias and maidenhair fern formed her shoulder spray. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, who chose a smart tailored suit of navy wool romaine, shell-pink blouse and navy accessories, whilst her spray was of pink begonias and dahlias to tone. Mr and Mrs J. A. Barton left by the evening’s rail-car en route for the North Island, which they will tour by car. The bride travelled in a model frock of parmo violet beneath a coat of chartreuse green, a violet hat trimmed with green veiling to tone, and black suede accessories.
