Mr and Mrs J. G. Barton, senr., of Waiuku, will leave this morning on a Lour of the East Coast, after spending the week-end at. the Glaciers. Mr and Mrs O. McLean returned during the week-end from a visit to Dunedin. For the.purpose of attending a postgraduate course at Christchurch Hospital, Doctor Violet Coates left Greymouth during the week-end. The death has occurred at Christchurch of Mr James Reid, of Riversleigh, Darfield, one of New Zealand’s best-known Corriedale and English Leicester stud breeders. He was aged 82 years. His stud flocks were among the first of their kind to be established in this coutnry and many of his stock sold readily overseas. The following are guests at the Albion Hotel; Messrs R. J. Richardson, R. J. Hobbs, R. A. Stonyer, L. Syme, R. Syme) G. Stark (Christchurch), O. Parfait (Auckland), A. J. Hunt (Dunedin), Mr and Mrs Abernethy (Sydney), Mr and Mrs Hay (Central Otago),. Mr and Mrs Bradley (New Plymouth), Mr W. H. Thomson (Hokitika), Mr and Mrs Forbes, Mr R. H. Schowen (Wellington). A resident of the West Coast for the past 28 years, Mrs Eliza Jane Wilson, died on Sunday. She was the wife of Mr A. H. Wilson, of Gresson’ Street, and was born at Huinga, Taranaki. The funeral will take place at Karoro Cemetery this afternoon. Mrs Wilson is survived by her husband, two sons, Leslie (Greymouth) and John (Runanga), and by two daughters, Miss Olive Wilson and Mrs Ivan Wnson (Carterton); also by two sisters, ’three brothers and three grandchildren.

The funeral of the late Mr. David Alfred Lyes, who was killed in a fall of 600 feet near The Hermitage, on Thursday, took place at Hokitika Cemetery yesterday. The services at All Saints Church and af the graveside were conducted by the Rev. G. H. Scurr. Amongst the large number of mourners was Mr. A. D. Spencer of Westport, who represented the Department of Internal Affairs which employed the late Mr. Lyes at the time of his death. Many beautiful floral tributes were received.
