Mrs T. Dunn, Greymouth, is on a visit to her daughter, Mrs D. Sadler. Mr and Mrs T. Sullivan have returned from a visit to Karamea. # Mr jinfl Mrs S. Ward, of Christchurch, have been’ visiting Mr and Mrs G. Ward- , . Mr R. Breslin, has returned from a visit to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs S. Havward were recent visitors to Christchurch. Mrs C. Reid has been visiting Mr and Mrs J. Soster, Runanga. Constable G. Cleary, who is leaving on transfer to Christchurch, was tendered a public farewell in the Institute Hall last Tuesday. Mr T. Sullivan presented the guest, of the evening with a well-filled’envelope and wished him every success for the future. Constable Cleary suitably replied. The evening was spent in dancing and items were rendered by Mrs G. Ward. Miss D. Devcscovi (Wejstport) and Mr O’Rourke. A dainty supper was served. “Auld Lang Syne” concluded a vow pleasant evening. A meeting was held at the club rooms on March 22 by those interested in forming a basketball club. There were eighteen ladies present all being very keen to commence play. Officers were elected and the grounds available were discussed and decided upon. Play is to commence as soon as the necessary gear is procured. Officers elected were: Patron, Mrs Le Cqmpte; president, Mrs Wynne; vice presidents, Mesdames McMahon, Connors, Snoie, Findlav and Larcombe. club captain. Mrs Gale; vice captam. Mrs Nailer; secretary and treasurer. Mrs Dobbin.
