N.Z. Child Cancer Sufferer to Receive Braund Treatment
P.A. WELLINGTON, April 2. A three-year-old child suffering from inoperable cancer left Auckland with its parents to-day by air for Sydney to undergo the Braund treatment. A country doctor who was attending the child had telephoned the secretary-general of the N.Z. Red Cross Mi. M S. Galloway, saying there had been no response io treatment in New Zealand and that the parents, who wished to try every possible cure, had decided on the Braund treatment. He invited the Red Cross to co-operate in the arrangements. , Mr. Galloways, on cabling it, received from the New South Wales Red Cross Division a reply which strongly advised that the visit be postponed until the'report of the Government investigation of Mr. Braund’s work was made public. Mr. Galloway said despite the fact that the reply is not altogether favourable, the parents decided to Lake the child and arrangements for the departure of the family by air have been completed. Their attitude can well be understood. Would not every real parent do the same ? The' New Zealand Red Cross Society arranged with the Australian Red Cross to meet the party and provide accommodation and transport in Sydney.
