AUSTRALIA SEEKS N.Z. SOFTGOODS

AUCKLAND, April 2. Australian Government officials and timber merchants are coming from Sydney to discuss with the NewZealand authorities at Rotorua plans for importing large quantities of New- Zealand softwoods. Representing the New South Wales Bax and Case Manufacturing Association, Messrs R. Falconer and A. C. and H. R. Smith arrived by air af Auckland to-day. They said it was understood New Zealand had an exportable surplus of pinus insignis which within a few years would amount to 200,000,000 super feet annually. Australia was anxious to take advantage of this, thus saving dollars. It was proposed that Australian hardwoods should be shipped to New Zealand.
