REEFTON NOTES

REEFTON, April 2. Mrs Wells presided over a fair attendance at the annual meeting of the Reefton Women’s Institute. The meeting, opened with the Institute song, ano the aspirations were read in unison. One new- member was welcomed. Mesdames Peara and Eager were chosen as delegates for the half yearly meeting to be held at Greyrnouth. Mesdames Wells and Millar are the hospital visitors for April. It was resolved to have a gift offering at the next monthly meeting. All gifts will be forwarded to C.0.R.5.0. The secretary read the annual report, and the treasurer’s balance sheet showed a satisfactory cerditfl The election of officers for the ensuring year resulted: President, Mrs R. Hobbs; secretary, Mrs J. Eager; treasurer, Mrs C. Smith. Mrs Sharpe, senr., was the winner of the points competition, with Mrs Eager second and Mrs Hinton third. Monthly competition winners were: Scarlet runners, Mrs Sharpe 1. Mrs Eager 2; best bloom, Mrs Eklund 1, Mrs Hinton 2. Supper was served by the hostesses, and the meeting concluded with the singing of the Ode to Friendship Mrs and Mrs Lyng have taken up residence in Reefton. Mr Lyng is the newly-appointed headmaster’ to the R.D.K. School.
The golf season opens again on Saturday, and the Waitahu links will be busy with seniors and juniors getting some practice in.
