BOXING PLANS CHANGED FOR DAVE SANDS
WELLINGTON, April 1 Tom Maguire, manager of the Australian champion, Dave Sands, said to-day that Sands’s proposed fight at Napier on April 17 with Roy Stevens, the New, Zealand middleweight champion, was off due to 'the rtxies that afternoon and the inability to secure a suitable hail that night. Ho was doubtful whether the proposed return fight with Jackie Marr could be arranged at Auckland, and failing a bout in Auckland, Sands would return to Australia 'after the contest at Petone on April 10 with Don Muilett, the New Zealand heavyweight champion. An Auckland message states that Jackie Marr, trie Victorian light heavy-weight champion will fight Darcy Hofiman, of Dunedin, in Auckland on April 26. The bout will bo over 10 rounds for a £3OO purs».
