HOCKEY WEST COAST ASSN. RECEIVES NOMINATIONS
Mr R. Beckman presided last evening at' a meeting of the West Coast Hockey Association. Guests of the evening were Mr and Mrs Arthur Lamberton, who are to leave shortly for England. It was decided that a trophy which has been donated by Mr and Mrs Lamberton should be alio-catc-d for competition in a five-a-side tournament to be played on the King’s Birthday, the Association to provide medals for the winning team. A letter was received from the New Zealand Hockey Association in reference to the visit of the Australian hockey team. Although more applications had been received than were necessary, eevry effort would be made to arrange for a game in Greymouth. A suggestion is to be made to the West Coast delegate that the visitors travel to Christchurch from Nelson by way of Greymouth. A letter was received from Mr Ken Ealchin, Wellington, accenting a request that he represent the West Coast on the. New Zealand Womens Hockey Association. Entries for competitions were received altogether from thirteen teams —seven for the women s competition and six for the. men’s. The women’s teams nominated are: Trinity, Runanga, Hokitika (two), St. Columba, Cobden and Greymouth. The men’s teams entered are: Runanga, Greymouth. Cobden (2;, Pacific and Wheelmen. It was decided that the matches this season shall commence at the following times: Mornings—9.4a ana 10 a.m.; afternoons—2.o p.m. and o.la P 'lt was reported that all clubs had been asked to nominate two selectors, and an independent chairman, these nominations to be forwarded to the secretary before the next meeting.
