Mrs J. T. Holmes, Remuera, Auckland, is arriving by plane to-day on a visit to her daughter, Mrs J. P. Mathews, Elizabeth street, Greymouth.
Mr T. Wildermoth, who • has been on a visit to his brother Mr J. Wildermoth left to-day on return to Wellington. He was accompanied by his wife and small daughter. Princess Elizabeth, according to the a Buckingham Palace official, has made no engagements after June. The official refused to comment on persistent rumours that she is expecting a baby in October. It is pointed out that the usual procedure lor the announcement, of an expected Royal birth is a court notice, saying that ‘‘so and so will not for the next few months undertake any further engagements.” The announcements about the Duchesses of Kent and Gloucester were made at least four months before the births of their children. A nursery floor is being built at Clarence'House, which will be ready for Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh next year.
There was a crowded congregation at St. Patyick’s Church yesterday for Requiem Mass for the late Mi James C'onaghan. The celebrant was the Rt. Rev. Monsignor J. Long, P.P., and the Rev Father J. Leonard was present in the Sanctuary. During the Mass, the children of the parish schools sang suitable hymns. At the graveside Monsignor Long officiated, assisted by Father Leonard. The pall bearers were Messrs M. McEnaney and T. Sinnott (Holy Name Society), J. Griffen and D. Costello (Greymouth Branch N.Z. General Labourers’ Union), J. Wood (N.Z. Labour Party), and F. McGrath (M. 8.0.8. Assn). Many beautiful floral tributes were placed on the grave.
