STRIKE OF JAPANESE STATE EMPLOYEES NOT COMMUNISTIC
LEADER'S STATEMENT
| N.Z.P.A.—Reuter Cable]. (Rec. 9.0). TOKIO, March 30. The Japanese Government emplovees who went on strike returned to work to-day, following instructions from General MacArthur. However, “vacation” strikes arc expected to continue.
“We will use every other conceivable means, except a general strike, to get a minimum standard of living for workers”, Kazuyoshi Dobashi. head of the strike committee, said. “Labour cannot be suppressed by force”. Dobashi denied that the .strike, which once threatened to involve nearly fifteen hundred thousand workers and to tie up communications throughout Japan, was instigated by the Communists. He said that it was simply a problem of securing Lor workers enough wages to live on.
