(Our own Correspondent ) At thp last general meeting of the Ngakawau Miners’ Union it. was decided to press;for an inquiry into the bus accident on the Millerton Track. Speaker pointed out that, if the suggestion of the union had been given effect to, re an alternative route from Granity, the accident might not have taken place. The National Council representative, Mi' A. McArthur was given instruction on bow to record his vote when attending a meeting of the executive of the United Mine Workers' ’Union on the seven-hour daj proposal for underground workers, it is now officially known That the sev-en-hour shift for underground workers will become operative on April •J. A discussion on the hostel which is to be erected at Granity eventuated and. it was decided to pass on the suggestion of a hostel committee to Buller Miners’ Central Committee. The following are tne results of the voting for the. two checn inspectors and five committeemen:—Check inspectors:— G. Crackett 106. J. Douglas 169, T. Douglas 21S. Conimittemen: — C. Stenhouse 220, J. Slack 221, F. Plummer 212, J. Morgan 209, N. Ebblewhite 212, 11. Mcßride 121. Mrs M. Hun* er is a patient in the Buller Hospital, her many friends will be pleased to know that she is making good progress towards recovery after a recent operation. Miss J. Colliding, of Miki, was a visitor to the township on Sunday last. Mr S. Morgan, a former resident ol Stockton, now of Hector, will shortly be leaving the district to take up permanent residence in Christchurch. Mr J. Wisker left on a visit to Timaru on Monday. Mrs A. Hunter, of Timaru, left on return on Friday last, after a brief visit to her parents Mr and Mrs J. Jose. Mrs J. Pollock and daughter Diane, left on Friday for Timaru. where thev in future will reside. The good wishes of the residents of Stockton go wiih them. , , T A.C. 2 J. Shivas left on Friday to visit, his parents in Hokitika. ■ Mrs R. Roberts and infant son, 01 Westport, are spending a holiday with Mrs Roberts’ parents, Mr and Mrs M. Dague.
