BRITISH CIVIL SERVANTS’ ATTITUDE TO SECURITY MEASURES
(Rec. 9.5). LONDON. March 26. The Council el the Civil Servants’ Association has declared that it suppoi ts ail appropriate measures against those civil servants who are disloyal to the State, but it believes that civil servants should be free to Join any lawful political party, and to associate freely witli people regardless of their political views. The Council adds that it would be inconsistent with this principle to penalise a civil servant on account oi his political views if there were neither evidence nor a reasonable suspicion of actual or intended disloyalty. Tlie Council, nevertheless, “notes with satisfaction that the Government intends to take appropriate action to safeguard State secrets, the unauthorised release of which might endanger the security of the State".
