Exclusive Possession of Atom Bomb Claimed for U.S.A.

(Rec. 8.30). WASHINGTON, March 25 The U.S. Secretary for Defence, Mr Forrestal, assured Congress today that Russia has not vet got an atomic bomb. He said: “The United States possesses the knowledge and capacity to make the atom bomb, and. as yet, the Soviets do not. The mere possession of this undoubted asset would not, necessarily, turn the scale of war if war should come. But its possession has an undoubted power to dissuade from aggression anw nation that believes that we have sufficient military strength to put that weapon to effective use”.
